Today in Women's History: Mary Dyer is hanged for defying a law banning Quakers from the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1660.

In her early 20s, Mary Dyer and her young husband left England, settled in Boston and began a family. Within four years, Mary had given birth three times. In 1637, the fourth child was stillborn and secretly buried. Dyer nearly died.

If I were to want to join a church or have any association with Christianity, it would be through the Quaker church. These women were amazing & next to only Buddhism, there is no faith that has nonviolence so clearly knit into its central beliefs about the world.
